Greater Miami’s business community celebrated greatness on June 13, when four area companies were named winners in the annual Good to Great Awards. The Barry University D. Inez Andreas School of Business attended the awards ceremony, which is part of the 2019 Impact Goals Conference in Miami. We were honored that one of our faculty members, Jana Rutherford, was part of the panel of judges. Rutherford is not only committed to teaching, she also remains engaged in Miami’s business community.

The South Florida Good to Great Awards program spotlights businesses throughout the tri-county region that have succeeded in their mission and established themselves as industry leaders. The title is drawn from Jim Collins’ book Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap... and Others Don’t, a classic resource for business professionals.

Awards are judged by a panel of representatives from South Florida universities and business schools, and winners are selected across four categories based on company size. The awards are open to all for-profit businesses, both public and private, that are headquartered in Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach county and demonstrate a pattern of transitioning from solid to great performance over a four-year period. Strength in leadership and workforce performance are also considered in the selection process, making the awards ceremony a showcase of influential professionals in South Florida.

Barry University was a proud sponsor of the Good to Great Awards.
