Alzheimer's
Disease
Dr. Laura Mudd's laboratory project explores the neurodegeneration due to β-amyloid, a protein involved in Alzheimer's disease, using rat brain cells as a model. A number of physiologically active growth factors and hormones are used to treat the amyloid exposed cells to determine if they might reverse or slow the degenerative process. Biochemical, immunological, and microscopic techniques are used to analyze the effects of each of the added factors. Dr. Mudd's laboratory consists of a research assistant, Dallis Green, and one student technician. More Recent Publications
