Program Description

Faculty in biology and chemistry receive financial assistance to carry out biomedical research on campus. Faculty receive release time, equipment, supplies, and travel to scientific meetings and biotechnology workshops. The grant also supports research assistants/associates and undergraduate student technicians.

The program offers:

  • Biomedical Research

  • Biotechnology Workshops

Faculty, research associates/assistants and student technicians have ready access to the Minority Programs Resource Room for the MARC U* STAR, MIRT, MBRS SCORE and MBRS RISE Programs. The room is equipped with high-end multimedia workstations containing desktop videoconferencing equipment and high speed Internet access. This room is adjacent to the conference room equipped with an Intel Team Station videoconferencing system which allows for Internet access and PC applications all in one setting. Faculty use these facilities for real-time interaction with their national and international collaborators.
