Flona Redway, PhD, has directed and coordinated the MBRS RISE program activities since its inception in 2001. Dr Redway also directs the MARC U*STAR Program, and has coordinated the MBRS Enrichment component, 1992-1999, and MIRT program, 1993-2005.

This renewable grant has been awarded to the College of Arts and Sciences by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Public Health Service, and National Institutes of Health since 1983. Underrepresented minority students (African Americans, Hispanics, American Indians, Alaskan Natives, Asians, and Pacific Islanders) enter this two-year program as juniors.
