Earth Week

Earth Week is a week-long celebration of Barry's commitment to "Recognize the Sacredness of the Earth" that includes University-sponsored programs and events from various departments.

Barry’s Mission and Core Commitments call us to recognize the sacredness of Earth and engage in meaningful efforts toward social change. Earth Week at Barry University is a series of annual events that bring faculty, staff, and students together to celebrate our common home and promote sustainability efforts on campus and in the local community.

Green Team Kayak Excursion
Sunday, April 7 | 10:00 am
Sign up in advance to join the Green Team on a free off-campus kayak and paddleboard adventure in Miami. No experience required. Spaces are limited.

Care for Creation Mass

Sisters and Social Justice: Building Sustainable Communities

Participate in an interactive lunch dialogue about institutional initiatives that promote campus and community sustainability efforts. Representatives from key campus offices will facilitate a speed dating style discussion on current campus wide efforts and future plans. RSVP required.

Earth Day Carnival

Celebrate our common home with fun filled afternoon that includes sustainable vendors, free food trucks, music, competitions, giveaways, eco-friendly attractions, and hands-on activities. Don’t forget to wear green!

Spring Fling
Thursday, April 11 | 7:00-10:00 pm | Landon Courtyard Jump aboard OSL’s ATV as we travel through the Amazon Jungle! Barry Beautification Day: Our Earth, Our Home
Friday, April 12 | 9:00 am-12:00 pm | Meet at Cor Jesu Chapel Steps
All students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in various on-campus service projects that support our university commitment to “live simply and sustainably for the sake of the whole Earth community.” Projects may include gardening, repurposing, hand-on activities with local youth, and more.
