UPGRADING YOUR CAREER WITH ADVANCED IT SKILLS ISN'T JUST FOR TECHIES ANY MORE
Don't fear technology…Discover HOW and WHY it works instead Adriana Cronin Loan Consultant, Washington Mutual
Considering a graduate degree that could make you a valued decision-maker in your organization no matter what field you're currently in or pursuing? A Master of Science in Information Technology could be your answer. I know I represent a large part of the adult working population when I state that over the past five years, I was feeling left behind by technology. I had allowed my fear of computers to keep me from learning more about how technology can empower us, both professionally and personally.
I suppose I began to realize two years ago that although I knew how to do my job well, I hadn't been aware of why my organization was using technology to gather and exchange information and build marketing strategies with these data to guide them. What I was also certain of was that new advances in this area were always being introduced, and with these new discoveries came new opportunities to analyze the massive amounts of information that organizations collect each day. Decision-makers who are unaware of the most efficient way to manage this information won't be in a position of leadership for long in today’s data-driven business environment.
For those with no previous computer degrees, the thought of enrolling in a simple technical course seems overwhelmingly intimidating to non-techies like myself. However, I recognized the value of learning more about cutting-edge technology to enhance productivity, efficiency and service, whether you're working in government, education, health care, communications, law or other any other industry.
By the end of that class, I had experienced the energy of an incredibly motivated professor, and equally enthusiastic classmates, many of whom were either updating their current IT skills or others, like myself, who were learning about IT for the first time.
