Curriculum Content includes
- Advanced pathophysiology, advanced pharmacology, and advanced health assessment / differential diagnosis specific for acute care nurse practitioners
- Advanced nursing management, clinical skills (may include but not limited to: x-rays, 12-lead EKGs, suturing, intubation, ventilators, and chest tubes) and technology needed by critically ill individuals and their families
- Roles of clinical expert, leader, educator, consultant, and client advocate
Clinical Experience
- Major focus of the program is on clinical practice
- All students complete a minimum of 500 hours of precepted clinical learning including an acute care practicum in the students' practice area of interest
- You will develop expertise necessary for patient management of high-risk critically ill adults and their families and advanced nursing practice skills across the wellness-illness continuum
