Volleyball Participates in Beach Cleanup
Barry's volleyball team assisted in an International Coastal Cleanup project in mid-September.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- Barry University's volleyball team assisted in a national beach clean-up effort on Sept. 15.

Working in conjunction with Barry's St. Martin dePorres Center, the Buccaneers helped clean up Miami Beach between 71st and 79th street. Barry's volleyball team was the only crew on site, working with director Susie Vega, a major account executive and community property specialist for Waste Management Inc. of Florida.

Barry's team removed 215 pounds of debris as part of the International Coastal Cleanup.

"It is refreshing to see young ladies that carry themselves with such respect and a sense of community," Vega said in an email to the Buccaneers' coaching staff. "I appreciate your efforts, and giving up a Saturday morning."
