MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- In matches where parity is pretty clear, one team has to take the short end. In this case, it was the Buccaneers.

Barry's volleyball team lost to Rollins College, 25-16, 18-25, 25-23, 26-24 Saturday, signalling the second straight home loss for the Bucs.

Barry (7-6, 2-3 Sunshine State Conference) duked it out with Rollins (8-7, 2-2) to 22 tie scores and 12 lead changes. Even the sideouts were nearly identical as the Tars converted 54 of 89 for a 60 percent ratio, while the Bucs made good on 53 of 94 for a 56 percent change-of-serve clip. Barry was successful in 77 percent (14 of 18) sideouts in the second set.

But numbers aside, the only thing that mattered in the end was the W or L, and in this case, it wasn't Barry's day.

Tashalyn Begon had 15 kills and a .462 attack percentage, and dug seven balls, and the Buccaneers outhit the Tars, .193 to .176. Tania Torres had nine kills, seven blocks, seven digs and three assists in a match where, even in defeat, her enthusiasm continues to swell.

Jayla Trombley had eight kills, 14 digs and an ace. Laine Cielena had eight kills and five blocks. Jeni Hiapo had 14 digs, and Mima Hajdukovic 32 assists.

Barry hosts Nova Southeastern at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
