Men's Golf Finishes Second at Guy Harvey Invitational

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- Barry men's golf team finished second at the Nova Southeastern Guy Harvey Invitational Tuesday at PGA National Champions Course.

The No. 1-ranked Buccaneers shot 283 in the final round, besting tournament host and event champion No. 2 Nova Southeastern by four strokes in the closing 18 holes. Nova shot 287, finishing with a first-place three-round total of 848, which was 10 strokes lower than Barry.

Barry's Marcus Segerstrom caught fire Tuesday, carding a 5-under 67 in the final round to finish in a tie for second with Nova's Ben Taylor, last year's National Player of the Year, at 6-under 210. Nova's Ian Facey won the tournament at 9-under 207. Segerstrom shot 69 in the second round.

Lynn finished third with an 872.

Barry's Scott Smyers tied for seventh after shooting back-to-back 71 to complete the 54-hole tournament on the par-72, 6,868-yard course with a 215. Bucs teammate Jared Dalga finished a stroke behind Smyers in a tie for ninth.

Marcelo Huarte, Barry's honorable mention All-American, tied for 15th at 219. He completed his three-round tournament with a 1-over 73.  Teammate Berry Jole tied for 28 at 223.

BUCCANEER GOLF DAY: The Buccaneers will host the eighth annual Buccaneer Golf Day Friday at Normandy Shores Golf Club in Miami Beach. Members of the 2007 National Championship team will be on hand.
