MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers dropped to 0-3 in Sunshine State Conference women’s basketball after falling 72-54 to arch-rival Lynn in the Health & Sports Center on Wednesday.
The Knights (9-3, 2-1 SSC) jumped out to a big lead, 12-2, in the first five minutes. Barry rallied to trim the lead to one, 23-22, at the 5:54 mark of the first half on a jumper by Emily Schahczinski. But the Knights closed the period on a 15-2 run and the Bucs (7-4, 0-3 SSC) never got closer than 13 points in the second half.
Kira Harvey led four Knights in double figures with a game-high 21 points, while Charla Nelson-James added 16 points and nine rebounds. Tylar Tracy and Amanda Schultz each chipped in 10 points. Kaley Howard was a bright spot for the Bucs, tallying a season-high 14 points off the bench. Colette Eule added 10 points.
The Bucs host the Saint Leo Lions on Saturday at 2:00 pm. The game will be carried live on GoBarryBucs.com through the GameCentral portal and the Buccaneer Broadcasting Network.
