CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Barry University women's golf team finished third in the United States Women's Invitational Tuesday. The No. 6-ranked Buccaneers shot 309 in the final round to finish with a three-round score of 931 in the 10-team event.

Florida Tech won the tournament after shooting 299 in the final round to edge out runner-up Florida Southern by one stroke as the Panthers finished at 918. FSC shot 308 in the final round.

Four Buccaneers shot in the 70s Tuesday on the 6,094-yard, par-72 Pine Island Country Club course. Maria Paola Fiorio finished ninth, following her third-round 76 and 231 54-hole total. She shot in the 70s all three rounds to record her second straight and third overall top-10 finish this season.

Nicky Ferre tied for 10th after shooting 77 in the final round. She finished at 233 in the tournament to notch her seventh top-10 finish this season. Nancy Vergara tied for 13th at 235 after carding a 79 Tuesday. Vergara has four top-15 finishes, despite missing two tournaments due to an injury.

Daniela Murray tied for 17th at 237 after her closing-round 77. She has three top-20 finishes this season. Taylor Babcock tied for 20th at 239 after shooting 80 in the final round. Babcock has six top-20 finishes in 2012-13.

Florida Tech's Jessica Hook won the tournament at 225, following her 2-over 74 in the third round. Teammate Rachel Polson, Florida Southern's Barbara Vejlupkova, Newberry's Lisa Brandl and Flagler's Olivia Ferrer all tied for second, a stroke behind Hook. Vejlupokova shot a tournament-low 72 in the final round.

Barry will compete in the Sunshine State Conference Championships next Monday-Tuesday at Lake Jovita Country Club in Lake Jovita, Fla.
