MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers roughed up the Eckerd Tritons 10-2 in six innings on Friday night in the opener of their Sunshine State Conference softball series at Buccaneer Field.

Sarah Broeseker went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a homer and five RBI to pace the Bucs (30-19, 17-5 SSC) to their fourth straight run-rule victory in conference.

Broeseker got the Bucs going in the first inning, launching an RBI double to left center off Eckerd starter Lindsay Rohrbach (6-8) to score Natalia Ojeda.

In the second inning, with Barry up 2-0 after an RBI single by Ashley Fernandez, Broeseker belted a three-run homer to right to make it 5-0.

In the fourth inning, the teams swapped runs, with Kaycie Duncan knocking in a run for Eckerd and Kelly Martinez hitting a leadoff homer for Barry.

They traded runs again in the fifth. Sabrina Lolo scored from second on a dropped fly ball with two outs. Pinch runner Kate Hehre swiped second, went to third on a wild pitch by Triton reliever Whitney Bernier and scored on a sacrifice fly by Alexis Kent.

Barry put the game away in the sixth. After Ojeda and Megan Copeland led off the inning with singles, Broeseker knocked another RBI double to score one run. Julie Brito hit a sacrifice fly to score Copeland and Broeseker crossed the plate with the final run on a single by Martinez.

Alexis Yohe (17-7) was the beneficiary of the offensive surge. She allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits in six innings. She walked two and struck out nine. Rohrbach took the loss for Eckerd, surrendering six runs on seven hits and a walk in two-plus innings. Bernier gave up four runs on eight hits in 3.1 innings.

The series concludes on Saturday with a doubleheader at noon. The Bucs will honor the five members of the 2013 senior class at a ceremony between games.
