A Message from the Provost

Dear Members of the Barry Community,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. John McFadden as Dean of the College of Health Sciences effective immediately.

Dr. McFadden has been a member of the Barry community since 1998 when he began as a part-time lecturer and clinical coordinator in the Anesthesia Program. Dr. McFadden became a full-time assistant professor in 2003 and was named director of the Anesthesia Program in 2005. In 2008 he was named Associate Dean and Chair of the Division of Graduate Clinical Sciences within the College of Health Sciences. He has been interim dean of the College since June, 2012.

A Barry alumnus, Dr. McFadden earned his PhD in Nursing from Barry University in 2008. In addition to his doctoral degree, John has an MS in Nursing from the University of Tennessee, an MS in Nurse Anesthesia from Saint Joseph’s University and an MS in Health Care Administration, also from Saint Joseph’s University. His qualifications and experience, including his work with modes of synchronous course delivery, make him uniquely qualified to lead the College through the coming changes in health care systems.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. McFadden on his appointment.

Linda M. Peterson, PhD
Provost, Barry University
