Men's Golf's Svensson to Play in Jones Cup

Barry University sophomore men's golfer Adam Svensson will play in the Jones Cup Invitational Friday through Sunday in Sea Island, Ga.

The Jones Cup features a 90-player field of the best amateurs in the world, representing 18 countries. The 54-hole event will be played on the par-72, 7,321-yard Ocean Forest Golf Club.

Past champions include DJ Trahan, Gregg Jones, Nicholas Thompson, Luke List, Kyle Stanley, Patrick Reid, John Peterson, Justin Thomas and Sean Dale. The tournament began in 2001. Former participants include PGA professionals Luke Donald, Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson, Lucas Glover, Bubba Watson, Brandt Snedeker and Jordan Spieth.

Svensson competed in the RBC Canadian Open, a PGA event, last summer on a sponsor's exemption. He won two tournaments for the Buccaneers in the fall, and has a 70.58 scoring average this year.

Barry begins the spring season Feb. 10-11 at the Matlock Classic in Lakeland, Fla.
