MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's No. 3-ranked women's tennis team shut out No. 11 Florida Southern Saturday, 9-0, to improve to 3-0 overall, 2-0 in the Sunshine State Conference.

The Buccaneers posted their second shutout of the season, winning all six singles matches in straight sets. The Bucs were convincing winners in doubles play. It was Florida Southern's first match of the season after having a pair postponed earlier this month.

Barry's Linda Fritschken and Emma Onila, the No. 1-ranked doubles team in the country, blanked No. 10 Sabine Goge and Magda Riutort, 8-0, at No. 1 pairs. Anaeve Pain and Kimmy Twelker were 8-2 winners over Olivia Spagnuolo and Dominique Friedrichs, 8-2, at No. 2. Blanka Szavay and Isabela Miro beat Victoria Spagnuolo and Crystal Copeland by the same score at No. 3. 

Eighth-ranked Onila got by 22nd-ranked Riutort, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 1 singles. Karina Goia, ranked 19th, was a 7-5, 6-3 winner over the 36th-ranked Goge at No. 2. Fritschken, who bears a No. 31 ranking, beat Olivia Spagnuolo, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3.

Pain defeated Friedrichs, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4. Szavay beat Pamela Paradis, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 5. Twelker defeated Jill Doerfler, 6-1, 6-2. 

Barry hosts No. 22 Tampa at 10 a.m. Sunday.
