Basketball Finishes Regular Season at Florida Tech

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's women's and men's basketball teams close the regular season Saturday at Florida Tech.

The Buccaneers women's team (15-10, 7-8 Sunshine State Conference) and Florida Tech (16-11, 7-8) will tip off at 2 p.m. in the Clemente Center. The same two teams will meet again on Wednesday in the Sunshine State Conference Championships first round at Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee at 7:30 p.m. Saturday's game will decide who finishes fifth and sixth in the league.

The women's game can be seen on the Panther Network.

Barry's men's team (18-7, 8-7) meets the Panthers (16-11, 5-10) at 4 p.m. That game can also be seen on the Panther Network. 

The Buccaneers men's team currently sits in a three-way tie for fourth in the SSC with Nova Southeastern and Rollins. Nova Southeastern plays at Saint Leo. Rollins plays at Florida Southern. Eckerd, which is a game behind the pack tied for fourth, plays at Lynn.

In the first meeting between the Bucs and Panthers women, Barry won 60-56. Florida Tech's Kayk Wilson leads the SSC in scoring at 20 points per game. Barry's Tyler Hardy is second at 19.6. Hardy (8.4) trails Rollins' Sarah Blackburn (8.5) for the top spot among the league's leading rebounders.

In the men's first meeting, Barry needed overtime to beat Tech, 96-92. Florida Tech's Chris Carter has the most assists in the league, 202, in 27 games. Barry's Deric Hill leads the SSC in assists per game (7.84) in one less game. Tech's Jermaine Jackson, Corbin Jackson and Carter are three of the top nine scorers in the league. All are averaging over 14.6 points per game. Barry's Juan Ferrales is seventh at 15 ppg.
