PHILADELPHIA -- Barry University's rowing crew's Varsity 8+ finished third in the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta Division II Heavyweight Final Saturday.

The No. 4-ranked Buccaneers boat of coxswain Angela Dasch, stroke Beth Desmond, Kristina Boncheva, Luna Ugrenovic, Jelena Momirov, Paola Girotto, Sam McKenzie, Mandy Carper and bow Anais Foppoli posted a time of 6:44.530 on the 2,000-meter Schuykill River course. Barry finished behind Nova Southeastern (6:32.972) and Humboldt State (6:33.450) in the six-boat race. Mercyhurst was fourth in 6:48.464, UC-San Diego fifth in 6:54.590 and Philadelphia sixth in 6:59.376.

Racing was suspended for roughly two-and-a-half hours following a rain delay at the largest collegiate regatta in North America.

The Bucs time in the final was 34 one-hundredths of a second off its 6:44.496 winning time in Friday's Repechage event.

Barry will now wait to see if it is selected to compete in the NCAA Championships May 30-June 1 in Indianapolis.
