ORLANDO, Fla. -- Barry University men's golf team is ranked No. 1 in the nation in the NCAA Division II Golf Coaches Association of America preseason poll released Thursday.
The Buccaneers, which won the national championship for a second straight year in May, received 438 points and 16 of the 18 first-place votes. Cal State Monterey Bay (394) is second, Nova Southeastern third, Chico State fourth and Lynn fifth, giving the Sunshine State Conference three members in the top five.
Nova and Chico each received one first-place vote.
Seven of Barry's SSC brethren nine schools are ranked in the Top 25.
The Buccaneers will open the season Sept. 15-16 at the Brickyard Invitational in Indianapolis.
