On a night that saw two weather delays, a multitude of yellow cards and 90 minutes of physical play, Barry Men’s Soccer just simply ran out of time as they fell 2-1 to rival Lynn at Buccaneer Field.

The Bucs went down 0-1 just four minutes into after Lynn’s Chris Hellmann scored from the penalty spot. Hellmann had won a penalty after goalkeeper Jimmy McGregor  had picked up a yellow card for a foul in the box.

That rest of the half would be a physical affair as the opposing side traded foul after foul until the match was delayed due to increment weather.

After a lengthy delay the teams returned to the field and were each able to raddle off several shots before the halftime whistle blew.

The second half was a tougher battle between the sides as they each collected a series of cautions and were not able to score at either end.

The scoring drought ended in the 87th minute, as once again, Barry was called for a foul in the box and Hellmann slotted it in to give Lynn a 2-0 lead.

A goal off a one touch volley by the Bucs’ Manuel Perez just a few minutes later cut the Knight’s lead to just one, however the final whistle was blown before Barry could get an equalizer.

The Bucs return to the pitch Saturday, October 4th as they take on SSC and nationally ranked opponent Rollins at 4:00 pm at Buccaneer Field.
