WINTER PARK, Fla. – Barry University women’s tennis players Jasi Witherspoon and Karina Goia will play for singles titles Sunday at the Varner Invitational.

Witherspoon defeated Flagler’s Alexis Morris, 6-4-6-4, in the Flight D bracket semifinals. Goia beat Saint Leo’s Anastasia Wagner in a third-set super tiebreaker, 6-2, 4-6, 10-6, in the A bracket semifinals.

Nova Southeastern’s Sabrina Keirberg beat Barry’s Elisabeth Abanda, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-7, in the A semifinals. Saint Leo’s Maria Benkirane defeated Barry’s Kimmy Twelker, 6-3, 3-6, 10-8, in the Flight B semifinals.

Both of the Bucs’ doubles teams advanced to the A bracket title match, setting up an all-Barry final. Abanda and Twelker won by injury default over Rollins’ Shannon Etten and Johanna Olsson in one semifinal. Goia and Blanka Szavay  won easily over Lynn’s Rosalie Willig and Grace Mpassy-Zoumba, 8-1, in the other semifinal.

Szavay defeated Rollins’ Taylor Brown, 6-2, 6-0, in the consolation bracket.

Championship matches are scheduled for Sunday.
