Women's Soccer to Host the 2014 SSC Tournament Finals

MELBOURNE, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers won the right to host the Sunshine State Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament Finals for the second straight year after capturing the regular season championship with a 3-0 win over Eckerd on Saturday.

The Bucs (11-1-2, 7-0-1 SSC) carry a 20-match unbeaten streak in conference regular season games into the tournament. Barry secured the #1 seed by posting a total of 22 points in SSC matches. Rollins College (14-2-0, 7-1-0) claimed the second seed with 21 points. Both teams will receive a quarterfinal round bye.

Saint Leo is the third seed and will host the sixth-seeded Florida Tech Panthers on Tuesday, Nov. 4 in the quarterfinals. Sam Buterbaugh and Katie Waddell scored for the Lions, who defeated Florida Tech 2-0 on Oct. 4. Winner of this matchup will face Rollins on Nov. 7 at Barry University at 7:00 pm.

Tampa and Eckerd earned the fourth and fifth seeds respectively and will play on Nov. 4 at Tampa. The Spartans and Tritons squared off in a 0-0 double overtime game in the regular season. Eckerd’s Morgan Crescent and Tampa’s Caroline Fykgard both played the duration of the game in goal. Winner will be hosted by Barry on Friday, Nov. 7 at 4:30 pm.

All matches at Barry will be streamed live on the Buccaneer Broadcasting network.
