CLP - Teacher Professional Development Conference - Call for proposals

Community Learning Partnership Teacher Professional Development Conference highlights emerging brain research celebrating cognitive diversity

Barry University faculty and staff are invited to submit proposals for the upcoming Community Learning Partnership (CLP) conference on Feb. 17, 2015 featuring keynote speaker – renowned writer and neuro diversity activist – Jonathan Mooney.

Mooney is the author of “Learning Outside the Lines” (2000) and “Short Bus: A Journey Beyond Normal” (2007).  He uses his personal and professional experiences as a student dealing with dyslexia and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) to explore theories that help teachers and parents redefine what it is for students in the 21st century to think, learn and be successful. With a unique blend of research and human interest stories, Mooney offers concrete tips that parents, teachers, and students can follow to transform learning environments.

The CLP conference, titled “Perspectives of Learning: Creating Opportunities for Every Child to Learn,” will be held at Miami Edison Senior High School. Master Plan points will be available for Dade County teachers.

Deadline to submit is Friday, December 19,2014

Formed in 2008, the Community Learning Partnership (CLP) is a community based educational partnership that offers opportunities to expand teacher professional development and student leadership in the greater Miami Shores area. Barry initiated this partnership with leaders from neighboring K-12 public, private and parochial schools, businesses, and organizations who seek to serve as a catalyst for civic engagement and educational excellence in our community.
