Longtime educator named President of Alumni Board of Directors

The Barry University Alumni Board of Directors recently elected Noreen Bevilacqua Virgin, ’68, as its newest president. Virgin joined the Alumni Board of Directors in 2012. Her term began in July 2015 and will last one year.

Virgin brings more than 40 years as an educator with Miami-Dade County Public Schools. She also worked in Prince George’s County, Upper Marlboro, MD. During her tenure she served as a classroom teacher, an elementary school counselor, a lead teacher, an assistant principal and a principal. Virgin was recognized as a Teacher of the Year and a District Finalist for Principal of the Year. 

Most recently she was an Associate with Max International LLC, a Health and Wellness Company located in Salt Lake City, UT. As a network marketing professional she works with the Miami team, Global Wellness Community, whose mission is to empower people to experience better health, success and significance. 

Virgin completed her B.A. in English and Elementary Education at Barry 1968. In addition to her degree from Barry, Virgin earned a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling at Duquesne University in 1971. In 1981, she completed a certification in Instructional Leadership at Nova Southeastern University.

Following her retirement as the principal of a large K-8 Center, Virgin worked as a principal mentor and coach under a federal grant in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Originally from, New York and a faithful New York Yankees fan, Virgin calls Miami home. She has three adult children, Paul, Nicholas, and Cristina and daughter-in law, Carla, and son-in-law, Scott. Virgin is the proud grandmother of five grandchildren, Sophia, Remy, Rocco, Enzo, and Lucca. She enjoys reading, traveling, and sharing Barry’s mission.
