By now, I am sure you have heard about the terrible tragedy in Orlando and the out pouring of support of communities having blood drives. I cannot stress the importance of donating blood if you are able. In times of trauma, blood supplies are diverted to the area of need, leaving a shortage for other patients who also need blood and blood products.
The need for blood will extend into the coming weeks and months. Barry University will be hosting a blood drive on Monday, June 20th from 11 AM to 6 PM in front of the Library. Efforts are being made to host a Platelet Dive this week. An announcement will be made as soon as the details are established.
There are Blood Drives being held today and tomorrow in North Dade if you would like to donate before next Monday. One Blood will be at the North Dade Justice Building on Biscayne Blvd today and tomorrow, and they will be at the Winn Dixie at the Intercostal Mall tomorrow from 3-8 PM.
We in Student Health Services are keeping the victims of the Orlando Shooting in our thoughts and prayers, as we are sure so many of you are.
