A group of senior clinical nursing students from Barry University recently visited the Feeding South Florida food bank in Pembroke Pines, Fla.
During their visit, students assisted in the warehouse sorting room, where donations made to the organization are assessed for damage and sorted into boxes. The nursing students embrace Barry's mission every Friday during the fall and spring semesters.
Feeding South Florida serves Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe counties. More than 98 percent of all donations are put back into the community. The organizations rescues more than 44 million pounds of food each year.
