Podiatric Medicine seniors achieve 100 percent passing rate on board exams

Seniors in Barry University’s Podiatric Medicine program taking the board exam have once again beat the national passing average for the Part II written examination portion, this time achieving a 100 percent passing rate. The national average is 90 percent.

This is the first time since 1998 that students have achieved a perfect passing rate. Additionally, 90 percent of those students passed the clinical skills portion. In all, 50 Barry seniors took the exam.

Dr. Albert Armstrong, dean of the School of Podiatric Medicine, attributed the success to several factors, including board preparation courses, a great admissions committee and the ability for seniors to take time off to study. He referred to the passing rate as “quite an accomplishment.”

“In short, the success is a combination of great students, great staff and great faculty,” said Armstrong. “This was validated in 2016 by our successful accreditation visit.”
