What year(s) did you graduate from Barry University?

2007/2010

Which degree(s) did you earn?

BSN/MSN Nursing Administration

In a nutshell, what do you do?

I arrange the undergraduate nursing clinical rotations; hire adjunct faculty and manage the hospital clinical paperwork. I also am the coordinator and advisor for the RN-BSN program, and am clinical adjunct faculty for NUR 422 Community/Public Health Nursing (CPH).

What are you working on right now?

Undergraduate clinical placement calendars for the summer and fall 2018 semesters; advising current and future RN-BSN students; teaching a clinical group for NUR 422 CPH this semester; and preparing for another group in the summer.

Why do you love what you do?

When I was a senior in high school and visiting nursing schools, I met a nursing faculty member at one school who took the time to speak with me about her nursing program and why she loved what she did.

After meeting her, I was so inspired that my dream was to teach in a nursing program one day. Years later, I am living my dream. I feel fortunate to work with some amazing colleagues and I have the opportunity to share what I have learned as a nurse with the next generation of health care professionals.

How did Barry University help you get there?

I was hired to work in Barry University’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences to recruit students for the RN-BSN program. I was encouraged by the undergraduate nursing program director to take advantage of the Tuition Assistance Program and attend the RN-BSN program.

Once I completed the program, the expectation was that I would continue my nursing education in the MSN Program. I was supported in this effort by nursing administration and received a scholarship.
