Instagram accounts help students prepare for board exams and clinical skills

Looking to prepare for a board examination or wanting to learn more about the clinical skills you’ll need to know for rotations? There’s an app for that, and three Barry University podiatry students are utilizing Instagram to help fellow students prepare for just that.

Third-year student doctors Ashley Mosseri, Misha Tavaf and Sriya Babu recently created the Instagram account @stepintoboards. This Instagram account was created to serve as an easy and quick way for podiatric medical students and students in other areas of health care to review and learn high yield facts for board examinations. Subjects include biochemistry, gross anatomy, lower extremity anatomy, pathology, physiology, pharmacology, microbiology and more.

Posts vary from questions, to helpful mnemonics, to simple illustrations that the creators have seen to be key topics for successful board outcomes. Additionally, the account hosts Trivia Tuesdays, where students can interact with live questions. They also will be hosting live sessions on how to study and prepare for NBPME boards.

The other Instagram account, @podskills, was also created by Babu and Mosseri. The two founded a club that helps prepare students for clinical skills and acquiring facts that they will need to know on their rotations. This account provides students with fun facts that can help them in rotations and clerkships, as well as information about events the club will host.
