MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Athletic Department will broadcast the 27th annual Athletic Awards Banquet live for the first time in school history.
The banquet honors the athletic department’s over 200 student-athletes while highlighting the accomplishments of the 12 Buccaneer varsity sports.
The banquet starts with the recognition of the Sister Jean O’Laughlin Community Service Award and is followed by dinner.
The winners of the 2011 athletes of the year will be announced after dinner. The nominees for female athlete of the year are Taylor Babcock from the women’s golf team, Emma Karp form the women’s soccer team, Barbi Pocza from the women’s tennis team, Brianna Smith from the softball team, and Julia Teixeira from the volleyball team. On the men’s side, the nominees for male athlete of the year are Dean Green from the baseball team, Emanuel Fraitzl from the men’s tennis team, Sascha Koettig from the men’s soccer team, Daniel Stapff from the men’s golf team, and Willie Whitfield from the men’s baseball team.
