WINTER PARK, Fla.—Sixteen student-athletes were named to the 2011 All-Sunshine State Conference Rowing Team. The Barry Buccaneers placed four members of their crew on the team: Jaimee Lampard and Nicole Marek earned All-SSC First-Team honors while Jen Feriozzi and Jamie Gordan earned all-freshman/novice accolades. Nova Southeastern’s Varsity 8+ took boat of the year.

 

For Lampard, this is her second-straight year on the All-SSC First Team. Lampard boasts a 7:15 2,000 meter erg time. She is a member of the Buccaneer’s varsity 8+ squad and rowed in all seven Buccaneer races this season. She was recently named to the CRCA Pocock All-American Team.

 

This is the first All-SSC honor for Marek, a junior. Marek has a 7:41 2,000 meter erg score. Like Lampard, Marek is a member of the Buccaneer varsity 8+ crew and rowed in all eight of the team’s races this season.

 

Both freshman, Feriozzi and Gordon took all-freshman/novice honors after helping the Buccaneers to a solid season. Feriozzi rowed in five races this season, all in the varsity 4+ boat. Gordon began the season with three races in the varsity 4+ boat before making the transition to the varsity 8+ boat for the final two races of the year. Feriozzi has a 7:42 2,000 meter erg score while Gordon’s 2,000 meter erg time is 7:52.

 

The rowing team wraps up the season at the NCAA Division II Championships on May 27-29 at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center in Gold River, California. Washington State University will serve as host. Visit the NCAA Rowing Page for more information on the rowing championships.
