The pairings are set for the 2011 Sunshine State Conference Men’s Soccer Championship. Play will kick off with a pair of quarterfinal matches on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Top-seeded Lynn will host the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 4, and the championship final on Sunday, Nov. 6.
The top six teams in the SSC regular-season standings earn the opportunity to compete in the SSC Championship.
With a 2-0 win over Barry on Wednesday afternoon, Lynn (12-4, 6-2 SSC) locked up the SSC regular-season championship and the No. 1 seed in the tournament. The Fighting Knights chalked 18 points in conference play and will receive a quarterfinal bye.
Florida Tech (9-5-1, 5-2-1 SSC) downed Eckerd 2-1 in its regular-season finale on Thursday to secure the No. 2 seed and the other quarterfinal bye. The Panthers collected 16 points in league competition.
Rollins (12-3, 5-3 SSC) posted 15 points to take the No. 3 seed. The Tars will host No. 6 Eckerd (9-6-1, 3-4-1 SSC) in a quarterfinal match on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Tritons registered 10 points, which tied with Tampa in the SSC standings. Eckerd won the tiebreaker by virtue of its 1-0 victory over the Spartans in regular-season action. The winner of the tussle between Rollins and Eckerd will advance to face No. 2 Florida Tech in Friday’s semifinals.
Barry (11-2-3, 3-2-3 SSC) and Saint Leo (9-5, 4-4 SSC) each tallied 12 points in the SSC standings. Barry gained the No. 4 seed compliments of a 6-0 win over Saint Leo in the teams’ regular-season meeting. The No. 4 Buccaneers will host the No. 5 Lions in Tuesday’s other quarterfinal contest at 7 p.m. The winner will face No. 1 Lynn in Friday’s semifinal round.
