BOCA RATON, Fla.—The Barry University men’s soccer team fell to the Rollins College Tars Sunday afternoon by a final of 2-1. This was the second meeting between the two, the first of which also ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Buccaneers.

Barry fell behind early after giving up a pair of goals in the first half. Rob Crowley scored in the 7th minute and the Tars struck again in the 22nd minute when Rafa Faria put Rollins up 2-0.

The Bucs would find themselves in a deep hole, and would head into the half down after being out-shot eight to two in the first period.

Head coach Steve McCrath went to his bench in order to provide a spark and that is exactly what he got from senior Lucas Noboa. After entering the game, Noboa was constantly around the a  ball improving the Bucs flow offensively and at the 55th minute mark Noboa found the back of the net for his first goal of the season to cut the deficit to one.

Minutes later, Noboa made a run towards the far post and missed the equalizer opportunity as his shot sailed to the right.

The Bucs would pick up the momentum in the second half but could not connect on any of their opportunities. As in any championship match, both teams came out of the gate and played physically throughout and at times had to be warned by referees as there were 11 cautions in all, five for the Buccaneers.

At the end of the day, the Bucs were unable to finish the comeback and fell just short of their tournament run to another SSC championship.

The Bucs must now wait for Tuesday Regional selection seeding as they look to continue their post-season play. Guilherme Oliveira, Joe Conkleton and Joao Garcia were all named to the SSC Tournament Team for the Buccaneers.
