Men's Soccer Earns NCAA Tournament Bid

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—After receiving their third bid to the NCAA Tournament in as many years, the Barry men’s soccer team continue their pursuit of the 2011 NCAA DII National Championship on Friday, Nov. 11 in Winter Park, Fla.

The Buccaneers (11-3-5) earned the tournament’s #4 seed as their sights now shift to a familiar foe in #1 seed Rollins College Tars. The Bucs and Tars faced off in the finals of the Sunshine State Conference Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 6.

Last season, Barry advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year. The Bucs defeated the Tampa Spartans in the first round, before falling to Rollins in the regional final.

With nine NCAA Championship appearances, the men’s soccer team is no stranger to the NCAA Tournament. The Bucs currently hold a 6-8 NCAA Tournament record. The last post-season victory for Barry came last fall when the defeated the Spartans by a final of 1-0, the game-winning goal coming off the foot senior forward Mark Anderson, the 2011 SSC Player of the Year.

Kickoff for the Buccaneers’ first round game is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Pregame coverage can be heard on the Buccaneer Broadcasting network starting at 7:30 p.m. To access the game, click on the GameCentral logo at the athletics home page.
