BOCA RATON, Fla.--The Barry University men’s soccer team continues to compile accolades as they placed four members on the 2011 Daktronics, Inc. All-South Region Team.

Mark Anderson headlines a group of Bucs to earn First-Team honors. Joining him on the first team are junior midfielder Guilherme Oliveira and junior goalkeeper Johnny Rodrigues.

Anderson finished the season as the NCAA DII leader in goals with 21 and also finished second with 46 points. His 21 goals were most in school history as he finished an illustrious four year career ranking in the top 10 at Barry in 16 different categories. He finishes as the school’s all-time leader in six categories including points per game (2.03).

Oliveira continues to add to his accolades this season as he was named 1st Team All-SSC, as well as Sunshine State Conference All-Tournament Team and Academic All-Region. He was an essential key to the Bucs success and post-season run this year.

Rodrigues was named to the first team for the second consecutive year after finishing with a 12-3-6 record which included six shutouts and a .90 goals against average.

Junior defender Joe Conkleton also garnered Second-Team All-South Region honors. Conkleton helped anchor a defensive line that produced six shutouts and a .90 goals against average.

Anderson, Oliveira, and Rodrigues were also named to the 1st Team All-SSC.

Aside from placing four members on the All-Region Team, for the second consecutive year, a Buccaneer has earned the South Region’s Player of the Year award. In 2010, Sascha Koettig claimed the award. This season, Anderson received the Daktronics South Region Player of the Year. Anderson was recently named SSC Offensive and SSC Player of the Year.

The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the NCAA Division II members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA), with the online nomination and voting process powered by ATHLETICSITE.COM.
