Madrid and Karp Earn Women's Soccer All-Region Honors

MEMPHIS, Tenn.—Melissa Madrid and Emma Karp earned first-team selections to the 2011 Daktronics, Inc., All-South Region women’s soccer team on Tuesday.

Madrid, a junior midfielder, led the Bucs in points with 11 goals and four assists for 26 points. She led the Sunshine State Conference in goals during conference games with seven and had a goal or assist in 10 of the Bucs’ 16 games. She was tied for first in the conference in overall goals and second in points.

Karp, a sophomore forward, had a goal or assist in nine of the Bucs’ 16 games, including a hat-trick in 6-1 win over Eckerd. She scored five goals in SSC games, two behind Madrid and two more than third place.

For Madrid, it was her third time on the All-Region team and the first time on the first team. For Karp, it was her second straight first-team selection.

Both players now move on to the national ballot. The All-America teams will be announced on Nov. 30.

Madrid and Karp Add NSCAA All-Region Awards

KANSAS CITY, Kan.--Melissa Madrid and Emma Karp added to their award haul with all-region picks from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Madrid was named to the Second-Team as a midfielder, while Karp captured a Third-Team forward slot.
