KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Barry University standout Mark Anderson headlines the 2011 Daktronics NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer All-America First Team as the Ron Lenz National Player of the Year.
The senior forward from Durham, England, leads Division II with 21 goals and ranks second with 46 points.
Anderson continues to compile the accolades after having already been named SSC Player of the Year, and South Region Player of the year. Anderson is the first Buccaneer in the men’s soccer program to earn the honor of National Player of the Year. Anderson’s the first statistical national champion in program history with multiple awards. He was the national leader in assists as a freshman and the national leader in goals as a senior.
Fellow Teammates Johnny Rodrigues and Guilherme Oliveira also earned Honorable mention All-American honors. Rodrgiues finished with a 12-3-6 record which included six shutouts and a 0.90 goals against average.
Oliveira was named 1st Team All-SSC, as well as Sunshine State Conference All-Tournament Team and Academic All-Region. He was an essential key to the Bucs success and post-season run this year.
