MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University women's tennis team is ranked No. 2 in the nation in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division II national rankings released Wednesday.
The Buccaneers men's team is ranked No. 3.
BYU-Hawai'i is No. 1 on the women's side. Armstrong Atlantic is No. 3. Lynn is No. 4, and Hawai'i Pacific No. 5.
On the men's poll, Armstrong Atlantic is No. 1, West Florida is No. 2. Lynn is No. 4 and Valdosta State No. 5.
Barry's women's team have three ranked players. Cristina Valladares is No. 14. Linda Fritschken is No. 15. Olivia Matuszak is No. 38.
The Buccaneers men's team has two ranked players. Marco Mokrzycki is No. 11. Fabian Groetsch is No. 27.
Mokrzycki and Leo Vivas are ranked No. 13 in doubles.
Barry's men begin a three-match road swing Friday at No. 27 Flagler. They play at No. 6 Rollins Saturday and versus No. 31 New Orleans Sunday in Winter Park, Fla.
The women's team hosts No. 12 Rollins Sunday at Buccaneer Tennis Center.
Barry's men's and women's teams will host the Sunshine State Conference Tournament in Lakeland April 19-21 at Beerman Tennis Center.
