MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Kevin Youst turned in his most dominant performance of the year as Barry University’s baseball team defeated Palm Beach Atlantic, 7-0.

The Bucs (20-20, 10-9 SSC) got to work early scoring a pair of runs in the first inning to give Youst the 2-0 lead. Youst (2-4) has suffered some tough luck when it comes to run support this season, but those two early runs would prove to be enough for the right-hander from Plantation, Fla.

Earning his first career complete-game shutout, Youst scattered six hits walked just one batter and struck out six with a season-high 144 pitches, 92 of which were strikes. The first Sailfish runner to reach third base came in the ninth inning and only three Sailfish runners were in scoring position the entire game.

The Bucs added a pair of runs in the fourth and sixth innings and finally put the game away with three runs in the eighth.

Michael Slabach continued his aggressive hitting, turning in a 4-for-5 performance and also scoring a pair of runs.

Bryant Elliott, Tim Blackmon and Julio Ramos, and Lyndon Coleman each added a pair of hits in the winning effort. The win lifts the Buccaneers back to the .500 mark after struggling throughout the year with several injuries.

Saturday afternoon the Bucs will complete their final two home games of the season in a doubleheader against the Sailfish.

The final game at Feinbloom field of the season will also include Senior Day festivities in which the seven members of the 2012 class will be honored. The ceremony will begin at approximately 11:30 a.m. prior to the start of the first game.

Live video broadcast of the ceremony as well as the doubleheader will be available through the Barry University athletics website, GOBARRYBUCS.COM.
