Women's Golf Tied for 6th at NCAA Championships

LOUISVILLE -- Barry University women's golf team shot 324 Thursday in the second round of the NCAA Division II National Championships at Persimmon Ridge Golf Course.

The Buccaneers enter Friday's third round in sixth place with a 653 two-day total on the challenging 6,283-yard course.

Nova Southeastern leads the four-round tournament at 614, Florida Southern is second at 629 and California-Pennsylvania and Grand Valley State are tied for third at 647. Grand Canyon is fifth, a stroke better than Barry.

Barry's Paola Grande and Francesca Perini each shot 7-over 79. Perini birdied the par-4 fifth hole before running off three straight pars to close out her round with steady golf. The Bucs played the back nine first. Perini is tied for 25th at 163 after two rounds.

Grande parred three of the last four holes, recovering nicely from the opening round. She climbed 13 spots to find herself in a tie for 34th.

Daniela Murray shot 82, anchored by 10 pars. Taylor Babcock birdied two of the first three holes en route to an 84. Babcock is tied for 28th at 164.

Nova's Daniela Ortiz and Abbey Gittings occupy the top two individual spots at 145 and 147 respectively. UNC-Pembroke's Meghan Moore is third at 150.
