MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's No. 2-ranked men's golf team will compete in the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Super Regional Monday-Wednesday at the 7,003-yard, par-72 El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey in the Hills, Fla., Monday-Wednesday.

The top seven teams from the 20-team Super Regional qualify for the NCAA Championships May 20-24 in Hershey, Pa. Each region is guaranteed three teams that will advance to the NCAA Championships. Last year, five teams from the Super Regional advanced to nationals, but based on the South/Southeast's performance at the NCAA Finals in which four of those regional teams finished in the top seven, the regional was granted extra national qualifiers. The top two individuals not on a qualifying team also advance to the NCAA Championships.

Barry has qualified for the last four national tournaments. This year, the Buccaneers will try to make it five in a row with seniors Marcus Segerstrom and Simon Forsslund, juniors Scott Smyers and Jared Dalga and freshman Adam Svensson teeing it up.

The Bucs are coming off the school's first Sunshine State Conference championship after shooting 5-under 859 to beat No. 1 Nova Southeastern by a stroke for the title. Dalga tied for third at the SSC Championships, shooting a 4-under 70-71-71- 212. Smyers was fifth after shooting 3-under 74-68-71 -- 213. Svensson was eighth, following a 1-over 74-70-73 -- 217.
