Miami Shores, Fla. – International performer and Barry University alumna, Sister Nancy Murray, OP will bring her one-woman show, Catherine of Siena to her alma mater this Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. Murray, who is sister to famous actor Bill Murray, has performed her show in more than 200 venues and in countries such as Italy, Peru, The Philippines, Australia and throughout the Caribbean.

The one-woman show is based on recent translations of more than 400 letters authored by St. Catherine of Siena. Sister Nancy’s performance is an introduction to the life of this saint, from her childhood to her challenges to the Pope in the name of Church unity. St. Catherine of Siena was born in 1347, and is most well-known for her efforts to bring the Papacy back to Rome from its displacement in France. She joined the Dominican order at age 16, and dedicated much of her life to helping the ill and the poor, as well as advocating reform of the clergy and peace between Italy’s republics and principalities.

Sister Nancy’s performance at Barry is part of the university’s 68th annual Founders’ Week celebrations. Founders’ Week at Barry celebrates its mission, heritage and Dominican identity, remembering founders, Mother Gerald Barry, Bishop Patrick Barry, Monsignor William Barry and then-mayor of Miami Shores, John Thompson. The event will take place in the Landon Events Room at Barry main campus in Miami Shores.
