Voices of Change

The SSW is now hosting a forum in which current students, alumni, and community partners can express their thoughts and views on issues of human rights and social justice through written expression. If you are interested in contributing please click here.

Here are two voices of change:

National Association of Social Workers, Florida Chapter (NASW-FL) Kimberly Thomas, MSW ’16
Kimberly R. Thomas is a recent graduate of the BUSSW MSW Program. Shortly after the tragic events that took place at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Fla., this past June, Kim felt compelled to pen a few words to express herself. Click here to read Kim’s poem Saying Goodbye.
National Association of Social Workers, Florida Chapter (NASW-FL) Catherine Vernon’ MSW ‘17
Catherine started the Advanced Standing MSW Program this past fall. Her passions mirror those of Barry University, which include working with many diverse populations on agendas surrounding human rights such as human trafficking, domestic violence, and the LBGTQ community. Click here to read her essay Social Justice: From Rhetoric to Action.

Romel Santiago Romel Santiago
