Barry University Chamber Singers Perform Virtually in a Show of Solidarity

(MIAMI, FL) The Barry University Chamber Singers Ensemble continues to come together virtually, using their gift as a display of unity with all those suffering from the global pandemic. As part of a class project, Dr. Giselle Rios led the group in a stirring remote performance of “Va, Pensiero” from the Italian opera, Nabucco.

It’s the group’s second project since the university transitioned to remote learning in March. The collaborations are aimed at uplifting others through music. “If you are an artist, you want to contribute by expressing yourself through your talents,” Dr. Rios said. “The students are happy to be doing this.”

The projects also serve to inspire and motivate the class during this difficult time. “You can see how their spirits are lower now,” said Dr. Rios. “You just have to continue with an even more inspiring project to keep them engaged, so they see there’s movement forward.”

Dr. Rios is sharing the recording with the artistic committee of Chorus Inside International, based in Italy, as a show of solidarity with the global community.

Students each submitted audio tracks and performed live together via Zoom. Video is available for download here.
