High-Tide Debris: Coastal Cleanup at Crandon Park (April 5, 2005)

School of Natural and Health Sciences educators and North Miami Beach High School (BEAM magnet) faculty and students visited Crandon Park for a day of beach cleanup and sampling along the high-tide debris spring high-tide line.

The goal of this project was to determine material proportions of organic (natural vs. anthropogenic) debris & synthetic (plastics, metal, textiles, glass, etc.) accumulated at the high-tide line.

Also a goal of this project is to establish a database for long-term measuring and collecting, providing opportunities for NMBHS and Barry to collaborate on scientific and environmentally friendly endeavors.
