Special Presentation: 23 February 2004

  • Nancy Gassman, Ph.D., Director
  • Environmental Monitoring Division, Broward County Department of Planning and Environmental Protection
  • Born and raised in the mid-west, Dr. Gassman began her environmental education as an undergraduate at the University of Minnesota
  • Seeking warmer climes and opportunities for coral reef diving, she entered the prestigious graduate program in the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at University of Miami, earning her Ph.D. in 1995
  • Dr. Gassman is a veteran of research diving, ship operations, and oceanographic studies in the Bahamas and the coastal waters of Panama
  • Since leaving U.M., Dr. Gassman has accumulated nearly ten years of professional experience in environmental monitoring and Broward County environmental public policy
