Program Options (I & II)
To facilitate the varying professional needs of the nuclear medicine
technologist, two options of study have been established within
the major. Option I has been designed for the student whose aptitude
and/or interests lie more heavily in the sciences. Option I is a
bit more rigorous than Option II, and we recommend that you take
Option I, as you will be a more attractive candidate to internships
and jobs.
Students in Option I must meet the following requirements:
- Biological Foundations
- Human Anatomy
- Human Physiology
- Microbiology
- Cell Biology
- Genetics (recommended)
- BIO 300 - Special Topics as specified in the Undergraduate
Catalog (Biology 300 courses do not count toward the major)
- General Chemistry & Qualitative Analysis
- Organic Chemistry
- Calculus I
- 4 semester hours of physics
And one of the following:
- Nutrition
- Animal Nutrition
- Parasitology
- Histology
- Embryology
- Immunology
Students in Option II are required to meet the following requirements:
- Biological Foundations
- Introductory Human Anatomy
- Introduction to Human Physiology
- Introductory Microbiology
- Genetics (recommended)
- BIO 300 - Special Topics as specified in the Undergraduate
Catalog ( Biology 300 courses do not count toward the major)
- General Chemistry & Qualitative Analysis
- Introduction to Organic & Biological Chemistry
- Elementary Probability & Statistics
- Minimum of 4 semester hours of physics
And one of the following:
- Nutrition
- Animal Nutrition
- Parasitology
- Histology
- Embryology
- Immunology
