Shane Neely-Smith, Ph.D., RN, Assistant DeanIn response to a diverse and ever-changing world, our undergraduate nursing program is designed to ensure that our graduates are knowledgeable, competent, courageous, compassionate, and committed providers to meet the healthcare demands of present and future clients. Having a highly diverse and qualified faculty body, our program provides a transformational, student-focused environment that fosters intellectual, spiritual, physical and professional growth and development to become a “Barry” nurse. Moreover, our program provides an environment where diversity is embraced, respect is encouraged and social justice prevails.

Our dynamic UG nursing curriculum is constantly evaluated and revised to enhance congruency with societal healthcare needs. With a community focus, our curriculum prepares graduates to practice in a variety of healthcare settings such as hospitals, schools, community clinics, public health services and homes. Built upon a strong foundation of liberal arts and sciences, our nursing program prepares graduates to become providers, managers and designers of care and members of the nursing profession. Moreover, our program allows graduates to think critically; communicate effectively; embrace and adapt to change and act as a change agent; provide nursing care to diverse clients using a systematic, problem-solving approach; practice leadership and management skills; engage in evidence-based practice; demonstrate professionalism; and, engage in health education activities. As a result, the “Barry” nurse comes highly recommended and sought after by healthcare employers.

We offer several program options to achieve a BSN degree. These options are differentiated based on the programs length which range from 4-years in a traditional basic option to 15 months in an accelerated option. However, your prior academic preparation will determine your eligibility for a respective option.
