Achievements
Sharon McGuire, OP, Ph.D., RN-C (BSN '84, MSN '85) successfully defended her dissertation at the University of San Diego. It is titled "Crossing Myriad Borders, A Dimensional Analysis of the Migration and Health Experiences of Indigenous Oaxacan Women."
Jill Hecker-Fernandez (MSN '98) was named Teacher of the Year from Omicron Pi Chapter (Belmont University, Nashville, Tennessee) of Sigma Theta Tau International.
Dr. Joan Efinger , Associate Professor of Nursing, received the Florida Nurses Association District V Nurse Educator Award: Certificate of Excellence on May 12, 2001, for "outstanding performance and lasting contribution" to nursing education.
Denise A. Marrero (BSN '01) received the Army Nurse Corps Spirit of Nursing Award in cooperation with the National Student Nurses Association. She was nominated by the Division of Nursing for "her sincere and touching beliefs and practices about all that is the finest in the practice of nursing." Marrero also received the Division of Nursing's Outstanding Service Award for her many activities including President, BU Nursing Student Association.
Angela Bartow (BSN '01) received the Florida League for Nursing's Nursing Student Clinical Excellence Award. Nominated by the Division of Nursing, she is described as "an exceptional student who is extremely dependable, caring, responsible, and professional at all times."
Cheryl Minick received the Division of Nursing's Outstanding Service Award for her numerous volunteer activities throughout her 4 years at Barry. |
