Welcome to our New Home

The Primary Care Nursing Center (PCNC) at Corpus Christi has a new home. It is the newly renovated Health Office and it is wonderful. It has a reception area, waiting area, Nurse Practitioner office, and two examination rooms, especially for children, one blue and one yellow. Ana Slack, ARNP, MSN says the new facility is great for the children of Corpus Christi and a pleasure to work in. The Parent-Liaison, Veronica Pacheco, is responsible for appointments and scheduling.

The official Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting on April 23 was performed by Sr. Jeanne O'Laughlin, OP, Ph.D., President of Barry University. Sr. Dolores, principal of Corpus Christi, said, "We really needed a clinic here that will serve the children, their parents, and teachers. The parents are often unable to make it to a doctor for medical help and the clinic is situated right here where their children are in school.and this dream has come true primarily due to the effort of the Division of Nursing at Barry." The renovations were possible through a grant from the Hugoton Foundation.

The true stars of the Grand Opening were the children. They led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance and sang God Bless America, and the eighth grade class sang, "Go Light Your Candle."

The next renovation will be at St. Mary's School Health Office and that will be finished by the end of May. The Primary Care Nursing Center health offices will be central in the community based nursing program curriculum for the students at Barry University Division of Nursing. We are looking forward to serving the children and families in the Primary Care Nursing Center schools and communities.
